So long to Summer

When I'm near a beach you can usually find my feet in the sand (which you will see in the pics ha!!!) unless it's raining and I have to spend my days inside ordering room service.  But as soon as the rain stops to the beach I go!!!  With all the rain on the trip I only got 2 days on the beach, only 1 with total sunshine.  So this will most likely (sadly, depressingly and begrudgingly) be the last post of summer wear since Fall temperatures has officially hit here in NY.  So lets go out with a bang!!!!!  3 swimsuits which all came from F21.  The cover up is from H&M and I had been waiting ALLL summer for a chance to wear it!  And finally the splurge in this post - a foil cutoff top from Zara paired with a Aztec print skirt since we were in Mexico.

Cancun Attire: Rain Rain Go Away

Hola!!!!  Happy Friday!!!  Missed out giving you guys a post last week as I was on vacay in Cancun getting the last chance for a tan before Fall.  There was rainstorms the first 2 nights but the sun eventually came out so that I can get a few day shots in swimwear.  The rain caused a flurry of jellyfish to be near the shore so I stayed on the shore where it was safe - also where it was closer to the all inclusive bar ;).  Dinner was always the time for me to dress up - a bit sexy one night and fun and sassy on others.  I know there are so many bloggers and people on social network who just do sexy - all day - butt shots - boob shots - butt selfies whatever.  I revel in the pure enjoyment of being a woman and being able to wear a backless dress one day and being beautiful and fully covered the next.  There is nothing wrong with either.  Too much of one thing is overkill and it's nice to be able to be a chameleon with fashion.  Never be the person who can be boxed into one category!  Be open minded and explore your options!

So what I wore on the rainy days......consisted of wake up, sleep, bar, dress for dinner.

Day 1..... Rain rain go away... Dinner attire.  I wouldn't recommend the flip flops but had eaten dinner and came back to room and forgot to take full shots in the heels!  Either way this is always one of my fave jumpsuits.  The color and the print makes it stand out.  It's from the Kardashian Kollection at Sears.  This was last season but they always have nice jumpsuits at Sears.com.

Jumpsuit: Kardashian Kollection // Flip Flops: Old Navy :)

Day 2...... Still Raining!!!  May as well get a few selfies in before dinner.  This was my first time taking this dress out for a spin and can you say FLAWLESS!!!  I purchased it from a small boutique awhile ago and don't remember the name.  But just having a low cut back makes anything spicy!

We shall cover the sunny day beach attire in the next post!!!!

Labor Day Whites

I'm a rebel.  Or at least I would like to believe I am.  You know a mix of Beyonce' on the run with a sprinkle of James Dean's sister (if he had a famous one).  So that is why we are going to say this post of a white dress is going up weeks after Labor Day.  Yes, because that is what rebels do.  Break all the rules.  I. AM. A. REBEL.  Ok ok so maybe I'm a good girl who wishes she could be bad but give me a break okay we all can dream.  Anywho the deets on my outfit.  For Labor Day I decided to pull out my white dress.  If you are anything like me you will buy white but for the fear of total destruction of the outfit you will NEVER wear it.  When I wear white I leave the house looking as if I stepped out of a Clorox commercial.  4 minutes later I probably started a relationship with a stain that I somehow have no idea how we became acquainted!  I braved the elements and managed to survive with one minor stain before the end of the day.

The dress comes from Express which I have owned for awhile.  The gladiator sandals are Michael Kors.  I love that they have a slight wedge with straps that stop at my ankle.  I figured if we were wearing pieces that never get too much wear some friends should come along - so out came the Louis Vuitton Damier print Speedy bag.  I'm trying to live with the notion that nice things should be worn as nothing last forever.  I haven't reached that level in my rebel coursework yet but hopefully I will graduate one day.

Kewain

Cropped and Blue

Before the last days of summer hit here in NY I figured I should get my crop tops a last few spins before I store them for fall!!!  I paired this express white crop with a wide leg denim jeans and chunky cork strap heels from Express.  For a little oomph I threw on a black leather covered pyramid with gold chain.  I saw this piece as I was on my out of the store and turned around and stepped right back in line just to purchase it.  I definitely feel it was the right call.  The bag was just a plastic shell and I snagged the grey lined pouch from a Zara bag I have and threw it in to hold everything. It ended up being the perfect companion for the bag.

Evolution of a style addict

My maw maw thought my mom would give birth to me in the mall.  She said she was constantly strolling past those store windows while she was pregnant with me.  My mom said, if she did go into labor there at least the mall was closer to the hospital than the house.  I guess you can say shopping is in my genes; part of my genetic road mapping of life from the very beginning.  I remember shopping every week.  After church on Sundays, while some people went home for Sunday dinner, my mom took my brother and I to the mall.

As I got older like all children I began to rebel and hit the tomboy phase – sneakers and t-shirts; Aaliyah kind of style but definitely a lot less cute, minus the dark black gorgeous long hair and zero sexy factor. Imagine a Lisa ‘left eye’ without the huge recording contract.  So yes, your average run of the mill neighborhood tomboy.  Then high school came along with these new creatures called boys which sparked a desire to be noticed.  Not enough to want to completely give up my tomboyish ways, but enough to have me sit in the hair salon for hours on the weekends and get a few new outfits.  Though 60% of the time you would still see me in sneakers and a t-shirt of some sort.  The other 40% counts for school dances and ceremonies (such as graduation), proms and church in which I had to wear a dress.

My first year of college, I ran into a girl I had met once previously on campus as I walked through the student union.  She insisted that I was way too pretty to dress the way that I did (don’t you love backhanded compliments?).  Well soon enough we became like sisters and back in the mall I was shopping to accentuate my ‘cuteness’.  This time a door was opened to something called pumps and stilettos.  I eventually joined the college modeling troupe and did a few local shows throughout my college tenure.

After graduation I moved to New York for my first real job.  I would walk up and down 5th Ave passing by store windows and the mannequins would whisper about my return to my first family, to my very core of which I began as my mom flipped through the racks with me in her belly.  Some accepted me back whole heartedly with open arms and provided me with great clothes, some even giving me the clothes off their plastic backs.  I would spend hours chatting it up with them in H&M and Forever 21 sometimes saying hi to those in BCBG.  Others would turn their noses up at me, staying inside their windows at Bergdorf and Saks vowing to never be found in my closet.  None the less I still love them and one day I believe we will eventually reconcile.  In the meanwhile I digress and push forward staying in the company of my valued and reasonable fashion family.

During the holidays they show me how much I am loved and have my favorite - a sale.  I go on a spending binge, accepting anything the mannequins offer me from their racks that will fit, leaving me feeling high on fashion.  After the holidays I thank them by taking them out to parties and events.  We spend lots of time together at work then we may go out for dinner or drinks.  At times their love supply is gone for a specific season.  So I make do with looking through albums of photos in Vogue, Elle and Harper’s Bazaar fantasizing about what’s to come.  They have watched me grow from a baby and adapt a sense of style.  Now I am sharing my lessons and love of fashion here.  Please join me for the journey.

I’m Kewain {ke-wahn} and it’s a pleasure to meet you darling!!
